BOARD OF DIRECTORS

The Akwa Ibom State Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) have Boards of Directors. This is to safeguard shareholders (the State Government) interests as the owner of the MDAs. The Board of Directors consist of individuals appointed by His Excellency, the Governor of Akwa Ibom State. As persons who hold the assets in trust for the Government, members of the Board steer the MDAs towards a sustainable future by adopting sound, ethical, legal governance and financial management policies as well as making sure the MDAs have adequate resources to advance their missions.

The Akwa Ibom Water Company Limited, as a Government Agency, has a Board of Directors whose role includes ensuring the implementation and sustainability of Government directives and policies. This role is expedient particularly when there is the need for government to ensure direct control because of the strategic nature of water production/supply and to ensure the judicious application of subvention it provides.

The Board of Directors, with the Managing Director/CEO as a member, appoints the General Managers of the different departments to run the day-to-day management activities of the Company. The Board members provide foresight, oversight and insight.
